Gin Bottle Display

Upon the honorable personal request of Laci Hernyák, we had the opportunity to contribute to the worthy presentation of Hernyák Birtok Etyek‘s gin, named OENO, at their partners’ locations by creating a tabletop display.
Designing an elegant, sophisticated, unobtrusive holder that lives in harmony with the bottles while remaining economically manufacturable for these characterful bottles with their unique formal world was a multi-layered yet exciting task.
Under the influence of light, the bottles shine in amber hues and project colorful decorative light spots onto their surroundings due to the geometric light refraction of their unique elements.
An important consideration during the design of the holder was to highlight the bottles and hold them stably in a triple composition. Large-radius curves fit well with the petal-like contours of the bottles, so our designer integrated the function and form into a harmonious unity by carrying these motifs forward. The bottle holder was fabricated from 2 mm steel sheet using bending, tab-and-slot jointing, and spot welding, finished with a matte white powder coating.
The initial designs started from a concept accommodating 4 bottles in the spirit of symmetry—at that time realizing a multi-level vertical arrangement—which eventually simplified into a horizontal layout due to manufacturability and economic considerations.
Beyond creating the visual concept, the size variance of the handmade bottles had to be taken into account when designing the receiving openings. The intended function could not be compromised; the finished object had to ensure both easy insertion and stable holding of the bottles.
Based on the designs, our technologist colleague set the parameters adapted to the characteristics of the raw material and prepared the drawings and instructions necessary for production.

Overall, we have created a pedestal-like presentation surface for the new product line that worthily supports the fusion of contemporary and artisanal philosophy inherent in the gin bottles, whether placed at Hernyák Birtok Etyek, Füvészkert – Hernyák Birtok Etyek, or on the shelves of distribution partners!

Designer: Renátó Árpás.

During our visit to Etyek, a quiet, heavy, calm fog was just descending upon the landscape, but thanks to Laci Hernyák’s approachable nature, we quickly felt at ease. While tasting the bergamot syrup, we immediately engaged in a homelike, relaxed conversation as we presented to Laci—now in person—the prototype of our gin holder envisioned by our designer.
Several concept sketches were created before reaching the final appearance, and naturally, we consulted in multiple rounds during the process, even sending a few photos of the prototype in advance as a teaser. However, we definitely wanted to hand over the object, brought to life by the hands of our colleagues and partners, in person.
We talked about sheet metal products, the process of designing and executing the gin holder, and of course about Etyek, gin, wine, sparkling wine, and old times…
We expected to have the opportunity to learn about herbs and spices related to the gin theme, but smelling the gin via a perfume atomizer completely surprised us; it immediately touched and enchanted us.
The objects in the rooms, rich with exciting stories and meaning, and the visit to the distillery filled us with countless experiences! We trust that we will create many more beautiful sheet metal products together!
